Preparing
Your stay
The flight
We pick you up from New Delhi airport by cab on the morning of your arrival.
We therefore advise you to take a direct flight from Paris to Delhi. You’ll need to make arrangements to arrive at your departure airport in Paris (Air India flight from CDG). For the return trip, you’ll need a ticket from Delhi to Paris (same flight).
If in doubt, contact us and we’ll advise you on the best flight to take.
The documents
For your stay, you will need to obtain the following prior to departure:
- A passport valid for 6 months after the return date of your trip
- A visa (I recommend the electronic visa, which takes only 10 days to obtain)
- A valid French driver’s license and a valid international driver’s license. So you need a motorcycle license.
We also recommend that you contact your insurance company to check your level of coverage abroad.
The suitcase
You’ll need driving outfits: A complete outfit with appropriate protective gear. Make sure you choose clothes suited to the Indian climate, which can be hot at times.
You’ll also need rain gear, warm clothing for our desert evenings, and light clothing for our tours.
Bring your swimsuit if you want to enjoy the swimming pool in most of the hotels we’ll be staying in.
Local currency
The Indian currency is the rupee. 1€ = about 90 rupees at present. You can change euros into rupees at exchange offices.
On arrival, you’ll be asked to pay the balance of your stay and a €300 deposit for the motorcycle (this deposit will be returned to you at the end of your trip). You’ll also be able to buy souvenirs and extras of your choice along the way.
Before you leave, we recommend that you check with your bank what level of insurance you have, and whether you can pay abroad with it.
